Do you want to get back on your feet financially?
Do you want to be able to buy your own home?
Open Hearts Place will provide intermediate housing for up to 3 years and assist you and your family to overcome current barriers that inhibit your financial, emotional and social stability.
You may apply for the OHP program if you:
- are the parent/guardian of at least one minor child.
- are interested in owning your own home in three years.
- are employed fulltime in a reliable job.
- are able to meet the income requirements.
- are willing to commit to a 3-year program with intensive case management services
Application Process is a 6-step process. Applicants will be notified by phone and/or text to proceed to the next step.
- Step 1: Complete the application and obtain a criminal background check from the clerk of court as well as a credit report from freecreditreport.com. Return all documents (via mail or in-person) with a copy of your ID and $25 fee (cashier’s check or money order).
- Open Hearts Place does not accept cash as a form of payment for any fees.
- Address: Open Hearts Place (at St. Matthews UMC) 201 Shady Rest Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
- To drop off at the church, enter the double glass doors in the education building Monday-Thursday 10-5:00 or Friday 10-2:00.
- Step 2: Sign a credit and background check consent form and our "Willingness to Partner Agreement". OHP will independently run a credit and background check to compare with the documents you have provided and to verify all information. You must present your social security card at this time for verification purposes.
- Step 3: Complete an In-Person Assessment with Program Director.
- Step 4: Interview with Programming Team.
- Step 5: Have an in-home visit with your family, the Program Director, and 1 member of programming team.
- Step 6: Final interview with Open Hearts Place Board of Directors.
