On Tuesday, December 2, we invite you to support us through 1BurkeGives 2025!
All donations will support our mission of providing homes and purposeful opportunities for families to increase life skills, gain stability, and become more self-sufficient.
And if you make your donation between 4AM and 8AM, you can also help us become the top Early Bird fundraiser for 1BurkeGives, resulting in an extra $500!

the Hildebran Switch Begins!
On Tuesday, May 13, we celebrated the beginnings of our six acre, 44-house development, the Hildebran Switch, which will provide new attainable homeownership opportunities for Burke County workers and senior citizens! We are grateful to Mayor Wendell Hildebrand and the Hildebran town council for their presence and support. We are also blessed by the support of Burke County, especially county commissioner, Randy Burns, who shared some words at this gathering!

In addition to our director, Madelyn Russ, and co-founder and board member, Tom Russ, we heard from Colby Swanson, Executive in Residence with ADL Ventures, on their partnership with OHP on the industrialized construction methods we will be using for this project. Rob Howard of App State's Building Sciences Faculty shared about the net-zero ready homes we seek to build to provide high-quality, energy efficient homes for our community. "bowling" fundraiser WITH West union art studios
We are so grateful for the partnership of West Union Art Studios who partnered with us on May 3 for our "bowling" fundraiser where people were able to buy a lovely bowl and ice cream! The beautiful works you see in some of these pictures were made by Molly and Adam Mackey, Brendan Wilder, Damien Overcash, Lynn McWhorter, Mary Ervin, and Lynn Justice! We are grateful to Suzanne Belada and Lynn Justice for coordinating the logistics for this fundraiser.
FALL AND spring Fish Fry with Mountain Grove, Linville, and St. Matthews United Methodist Churches
Open Hearts Place partnered with the fish fry experts at Linville and Mountain Grove United Methodist Churches to put on two fish fry fundraisers in Fall of 2024 and Spring of 2025! We are grateful to St. Matthews United Methodist Church for providing space and all churches and OHP supporters for volunteering to make this fundraiser and community event happen!
