By providing affordable rental housing and programming to address the root causes of a struggling family’s instability, they move from sharing housing with family or needing subsidized housing to improving their financial situation and creating generational wealth through homeownership.
And the best part? Because the whole family is in the Open Hearts Place program, we are facilitating this change two generations at a time!

- $250 provides enrichment opportunities for a family.
- $500 provides one month of enrichment opportunities like tutoring, sports and the arts for the children in our program.
- $750 provides education and skills building for a working parent.
- $1000 contributes to case management services for working families.

In 2024, Parallax Development Group donated six acres of land, and we began to envision the Hildebran Switch community as the next iteration of our commitment to transforming the lives of Burke County residents who want a brighter future for themselves, their families, and future generations but cannot yet imagine a path toward homeownership.
Within Hildebran Switch, a pocket neighborhood with 44 homes, Open Hearts Place will build and keep three homes to expand our program to a total of nine homes so we can serve more low-income families.
The first OHP that will be built in Hildebran Switch will be a 3 bedroom/2 bath home. We invite you to help purchase windows, doors, the roof, flooring, appliances, etc. as together we build OHP's 7th home. Your gift will help make this home a reality for families in our community who are ready to work towards financial stability and homeownership.
